Day 1
Ruta Del Sol: Cusco & Puno
  • Start : 06:50 HRS: Bus departure from Cusco to Puno.
  • 1st STOP: Andahuaylillas «Sistine Chapel of America» - 07:40 hrs:
Here is the church of San Pedro Apóstol de Andahuaylillas, built by the Jesuits in the 16th century. Like other Spanish religious constructions of the time, it was built on a 'huaca', or sacred place for the Incas. This temple is known for its architectural design, similar to others in the region. But what is most striking is the wall painting, which decorates the front and several areas of the place. It was painted in the seventeenth century, with the aim of educating the natives of that time about the Christian faith of the Spaniards, through illustrations, various murals were painted that now cover the entire surface of the roof of the church, which is manufactured with Gold leaf and polychrome wood.
  • 2nd STOP: Raqchi «Wiracocha Temple» - 10:00 hrs:
The archaeological site of Raqchi is located in the district of San Pedro, province of Canchis, department of Cusco at 3460 meters above sea level. Raqchi has an area of approximately 1000 hectares, in addition to the gigantic Inca wall that protects the archaeological park, you can see some buildings such as aqueducts, underground tombs and pre-Inca culture precincts. The most important building within the complex is the "temple of Wiracocha" which according to ancient chroniclers was built by the Inca Wiracocha in honor of the invisible Superior God of the Andean people: "Apu Kon Titi Wiracocha." Externally it is 92 meters long (302 feet) and 25 meters wide (83 feet).
  • 3rd STOP: Andean Buffet Lunch in Marangani - 11:35 hrs:
Sicuani is a relatively large city in the highlands. The city is an important intersection, with the road to Puno / Arequipa.
Our exclusive restaurant is located in Marangani, which has a spacious atmosphere and panoramic cabin-like windows, from here you can appreciate the beautiful Andean mountain range. It is here where they will have an Andean buffet lunch, made with purely Andean ingredients.
Optional visit to the Willka Uta Interpretation Center: In the restaurant you will have the opportunity to visit “The Ancestral Peru Ethnohistoric Interpretation Center”, where we will show you the Peruvian cultural diversity as the historical, artistic heritage that as time goes by is being lost .
  • 4th STOP: La Raya - 12:50 hrs:
4335 meters of altitude! 14,232 feet!
Abra La Raya (La Raya) is the place where the regions of Cusco and Puno limit, also from this point the Urubamba River is born, which is one of the main rivers of Peru. Its waters pass through the Sacred Valley of the Incas and Machu Picchu. At this point we will have a short stop, at a strategic point to appreciate beautiful Andean mountain ranges at an altitude of 4,338 meters (14,232 feet).
  • 5th STOP: Parador Museum of Pukara - 2:30 hrs
Pucará was the first regional population in the Titicaca basin north of the lake during the Late Formative Period (500 BC-200 AD), which provides valuable information on the origins of the Andean civilization in the highlands. During its heyday it covered more than a square kilometer and was a refuge for thousands of bureaucrats, priests, craftsmen, farmers, shepherds and possibly warriors. The Pukara style is identified by impressive monolithic sculptures with a variety of geometric, zoomorphic, and more intricate anthropomorphic images, multi-colored ceramics in a variety of ritual and domestic forms.
